About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Program Development Officer to work in our Abbotsford office. Located in the Research and Professional Practice Team and reporting to the RPP Manager, the Program Development Officer will be responsible for the design and development of psychologically-based offender rehabilitation programs including drug specific and criminogenic programs for prisoners across the Victorian correctional system. The purpose of the programs will be to facilitate and support positive behaviour change across one or more of the following portfolios areas:

  • Programs for women, youth, and those with a cognitive disability;
  • Family Violence interventions;
  • Alcohol and Drug interventions;
  • Transition and reintegration services on entry to prison and through to pre-release;
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing interventions.

This role will also involve developing conference presentations, management and analysis of data, the presentation/communication of data and other findings to internal teams and external stakeholders, and may occasionally involve collaborating with internal stakeholders in the redesign of business processes and systems. This role will require working within a team environment and will be supported by the Research and Professional Practice Manager.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in an area such as psychology, mental health, criminology or related discipline;
  • Experience in the design and development of complex psycho-educational and/or therapeutic programs for offenders and vulnerable cohorts;
  • Understanding and knowledge relevant to at least one or more of the portfolio areas listed above under Section 'About the Opportunity';
  • Excellent written expression;
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • Ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to work within a team delivering a range of services and to be an independent and autonomous contributor, where necessary;

 

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Full unrestricted registration as a psychologist with AHPRA;
  • Postgraduate qualification in an area such as psychology, mental health, criminology or related discipline;
  • Training and/or experience in working within a Forensic, Health or Clinical Psychology context.
