Introduction to Clinical Supervision

Aimed at beginning clinical supervisors, this package is designed to provide an overview of the key models of supervision in addition to the pragmatics of facilitating an effective supervision session, addressing challenges as they arise. The workshop commences with a discussion around the four primary focal areas of supervision.

The supervisory relationship is explored, including the difference between supervision and counselling, as well as the processes from assessment, contracts and agreements, limits of confidentiality, and reviewing, with an example structure of a supervision session being presented. Reflective supervision is defined, highlighting seven key areas for case work review and two models of reflective work. The session concludes with an overview and practice of a narrative model of peer-group supervision.
